I need suggestions on buying a new camera. Something that takes clear pictures and macro shots. Most of the reviews seem to be negative. Would like a zoom lens too and under 200 dollars if possible.
I have a canon shot a70 that I love and takes great pictures with a 3.2 mega pixels but no longer works. Canon told me they no longer fix this model. I have a canon power shot S31S SLR but the view screen does not work. My sig picture was taken with it. Expensive to fix and do not really like the camera. Much easier to buy a good camera before the days of digital. I have an old canon FTB all manual.
I would suggest going to either B&H or Adorama's website, entering what you are looking for in terms of product/price, and then see what they have. You can get the basic information from each sites description in terms of zoom, camera features, etc. Narrow it down to a few that look interesting, then go searching for reviews of those specific cameras. That will save you from wading through a lot of reviews of cameras that are either out of the desired price range, or don't have features you want.

I've got a Canon too and like it, but find it bulky to travel with, and has too many buttons and choices to make for a non-photographer like me.
So I recently picked up a tiny little Kodak Easy Share which is a cheap point and shoot. So far, I'm impressed with the image quality of the thing and it seems idiot-proof.
I looooove this camera. I don't know how to do anything but point and shoot, and upload to iPhoto. It's completely possible to use it instantly without even opening the manual. Which I still haven't, a year later.

I liked that one very much. That's what I had before this Canon. (I lost it.)
You may want to try an older DSLR Canon Rebel. You can get them used for $200-$300 (on Adorama)
I've started using my brother's 4 y/o rebel and I'm blown away by the difference between that camera and my Kodak p&s (which takes really great pictures and I'd buy again in a heartbeat if they still made them)
