My current vet just charged me $425 for an ultrasound on my dog's bladder and $130 for an antibiotics shot. I didn't think much of it because I assumed that ultrasounds are generally expensive, but the antibiotic shot kinda threw me off. Once I got the results of the ultrasound (enlarged prostate), they told me that I need to get my dog neutered to fix the prostate issues. They ended up giving me a quote for $500 to get my dog neutered. This seemed strange to me because from what I had heard, such a routine procedure never cost more than $350. So I decided to call a few other vets around to get quotes and it turned out that my vet was seriously overcharging me.
Most other vets quoted me $300 for the ultrasound and $320 for the neuter. This really pisses me off because while I have no problem paying for my dog's health, I hate being ripped off by people. Especially that I'm a student and have bills that are sky high already. Apparently my current vet has been seriously overcharging me relative to their competition.
Anyway, long story short (sorry to rant), I'm now looking for a new vet and I was hoping some members here would have a good recommendation for me in the Tempe/Scottsdale area of Arizona. I really appreciate any help you guys can give me!
