Howdy from the great state of Texas.
My name is Ken and I live down in the swamp (currently in a drought!) but most others call in Houston.
I made the mistake last year of purchasing a cute ball of fluff with alert eyes and red hair weighing a little over 7 lbs in August 2010. I'd been lurking here for a couple of years so I thought I knew what to expect, HA!
I grew up with dogs so I thought what the heck, I can handle something with a little more pep! A soft Lab does not make one a dog handler. And going from a goofy Lab to a high drive, active, superdog was not a an easy adjustment. Its amazing that neither of my girls (5&7) were seriously injured (or the dog) during the teething phase, and when he can he likes to sneak a chew on me.
But with lots of patience, cheese, Ed's videos, every ones post here (and e-collar)a I have turned the little alligator into a almost good dog.
He's still a suicidal (he's the one Cindy posted about eating a sago palm seed!) butthead who likes to test his boundaries, I'm hoping he grows out of it in the next couple of years.
I don't have a picture of Hank and I, but here is one from last month when my 5 yr old and I took Hank for a walk.
I'm glad that Ed and Cindy have set up this resource (the forum) so those of us who don't have a clue about dogs can turn animals into true companions.
Beautiful pup growing into a gorgeous dog, when you look at the sweet goofy pup, you can never quite imagine what they are going to like as they get older! sounds like you are going to have a lot of fun with him
Lovely intro note Ken, it made me smile...a lot! Love the humour...I see we're in for some interesting posts from you!
