Hello, My name is Amanda, my husband's name is Cory and we just recently bought a female Shepherd that we named Ida! She will be 10 weeks old tomorrow. After searching for along time, and visiting this breeder we finally bought a pup and we are very happy with her.
This is my 4th shepherd, but our first working shepherd. My husband trains hunting dogs. I have always had an interest in Schutzhund, police work, and protection, but after our visit to the schutzhund club Cory was sold and is eager to become a helper! We have 7 children (one living out of the home), and they are all excited about this as well. They are a bit bummed about not being able to lavish attention on Ida, but after talking with them and watching How to Raise a Working Puppy they understand.....not happy about it, but they get it.
Our heads a just buzzing with all the info on this site! We really don't want to ruin this pup. We are so glad for the support here. I am sure we will have lots of questions along the way. Any advice will be well accepted.
So there is a breif intoduction! I guess that's it...I'm sure I'll have a list of questions as time goes by. : ) Forgive me as I a bit "web board illiterate"
Welcome! Again congrats on the new pup! If your wanting to get into the bite sports, a good resource to have a look at is the "Puppy Bite Development" video by Michael Ellis. It gives alot of good info about the different stages of puppy bite development from pre-teething through adolescent.
