Just a small (...very small..) brag -Shiva got moved up into the Open obedience class today!! She held her off leash downs (between the Yorkie and Dutchie!) had a nice heeling pattern and has now started on the down on recall and broad jump!! We have a ton of work ahead of us but the trainer thinks she can be ready to try for first leg (CD) by the end of the year..
She also got her PAT certification last month and we're looking forward to her specialty -kids, of course -but also working with disabled veterans.
This little shelter knucklehead has come so far in the 14 months we've had her -in no small part due to the insight and knowledge I've gained by being a member of this community!

LOL! I said SMALL brag -I will always follow your, and Anne's and Ingrid's (many others) advice to take it slow and steady and not rush to ribbons. I know serious AKC competitors here know all about ring challenges!
Congratulations on your great work with Shiva! I always enjoy reading about members' accomplishments here, and it's especially sweet when it's a rescue or shelter dog.
Hilarie, you may think this is just a small brag, but from Shiva's point of view, you gave her a second lease on life, so I imagine she thinks it's all pretty fantastic. (Okay, you guys will have to forgive me for a little anthropomorphizing!)
