Gambit is blowing is coat....there is more hair coming off of him that has ever been on him (no, I don't know how that's possible but I assure you that's the case, I've filled two trashbags so far).
I've been furminating daily, then curry combing gently a few times a day to keep up with it but every shake, and it's like a poof comes off. His poop is filled with hair because he sheds in his crate then plays with toys in there. I've been de-furring the crate once a day, sweeping about 5 times a day....
He's on fish oil, his coat doesn't seem unhealthy but there is more hair than even Ryuk lets off when he does that "I'm going to blow my coat in one day *poooooof*" thing and I've never had to worry about hair in poop with Ryuk. I've also been watching him carefull, he's not licking himself or doing any direct indigestion of his hair, I've even stopped feeding him in his crate to be sure he's not getting it at meals
I've tried de-shed shampoo, careful brushing, warm bath with a nubbed brush to massage the coat....I have to visit my parents on friday, my mother's allergic, and I don't want to fur bomb her house for the day (He is kept crated most of the time and will be in a single room...but still)! I've never had this issue with Ryuk and he's got longer more sticky hair....anyone have any ideas?

He was doing alot of outside living before you got him...maybe he grew a heavier coat then Ryuk ever does, due to more outside time. He is also shedding out his first winter adult coat.
The air is just filled with hair at this time of year, no matter how much you vaccum or clean crates etc. Other then furmilating, brushing & vaccuming them, I haven't found anything that keeps the hair down & out of poop. It's just everywhere.
My female has a 'tight' coat & sheds more undercoat then my male who's coat if fuller.
They sell a charcoal block that I used to use on my horse that worked well to pull hair off. Can't remember what it was called. Maybe another horse person will recall the name. You might try that. Should have them at any tack shop.
Here is a linc to the slick & easy that was talking about: they are cheap $3.

It's just that to the touch he's noticeably less fluffy than Ryuk who gets an impressive mane in the winter. Gambit's rather short coated but is just fursploding everywhere...he doesn't even have the amount of hair he's shedding, I double check to make sure he wasn't just rolling in Ryuk's hair or something lol.
I'm going to look into that vacuum thing, we've been working on "scary dryer" tolerance so I'm thinking it may be okay for him (and he looooooves brushing, I need to rent some 5 year old girls to brush him and tie ribbons and bows in his ears, he'd love it XD)
I know a lot of horse people around here, I'll look into that charcoal block too, I know I've seen them before.
I was just thinking a few weeks ago "oh, at least when spring comes I'll only have to worry about one hair explosion, Gambit doesn't really have that much hair" AUUUUGH

I bought a 20' hose extension for a craftsman vac so I could have the vac outside the door in my garage and lesson the motor noise.

Groomers blow the coat by using a high velocity dryer after a bath. I like the large mars coat king for taking out lots of undercoat on my gsd before the bath. A good groomer can get out most of the hair.

I've found that a lot more loose hair comes off during a bath if you use a conditioner/cream rinse product.
Shampooing alone removes some loose hair, but it also leaves the hair "squeaky clean" and that friction doesnt allow much of the loose shed hair to rinse off. Following up with a conditioner product makes it slipperier, allowing much more hair to rinse off.
I always brush before a bath, then again after the bath, after the hair is dry.

Outdoors.
The neighborhood birds will take the day off from their usual activities to attend the brushing of double-coated breeds in nest-building season.

Heh, I've had a bird hop around us outside when I was brushing Ryuk out last year, didn't get that close though, just collected what I was pulling off the brush lol.
got another entire dog's work of hair off of Gambit today -_- I'm going to be picking up a shop vacuum this weekend from my parents since my room vacuum isn't powerful enough (it's one of those compact ones)
