It has been awhile since I have really been around due to a busy life but I need to drop in and brag This weekend Frost and I entered our first obedience trial since she got her first leg in Utility last May. As many of you know, Frost took a break to whelp seven wonderful puppies and by the time that was over, the show season was over in my area.
On Friday, Frost got her second leg with a decent 191.5 and a first place ribbon (she was the sole survivor in the Utility classes). On Saturday afternoon she wrapped up the UD title with her third leg another first place (again being the sole Utility survivor). Her score was 183 which was actually very kind of the judge since it was a less than stellar performance :-P
There was a Saturday a.m. trial that she NQ'd quite spectacularly in. When I enter the ring for a performance with Frost I always ask her if we are going to get "bad guy" and she responds with several sharp barks as she loves doing bitework and it loosens her up to bark before going in the ring. Unfortunately, one of the stewards during her class was someone she knows from Schutzhund who does helper work.... As soon as she saw Warren she started barking at him and at one point ran to where he was standing at the ring entrance to stand in front of him and bark. Needless to say we did not qualify and later I set Frost up outside where Warren was and made it quite clear that this sort of behavior is not going to fly. Warren was kind enough not to steward for her in the afternoon so as to avoid that issue again.
By completing her title this weekend she qualifies for the Front and Finish Gold Award of Excellence for attaining her CD, CDX, and UD in under 24 months. Needless to say I am very proud of my Frost!
Here is a picture taken today with most of Frost's obedience ribbons:
Kipling, the son of Frost that I kept is doing well on his obedience training but he is slow to mature so it will be at least a year before he sees the inside of an obedience ring. He worked sheep for the first time today and was a natural at it.
Last month I went down to Denver for the big dog show and they had a puppy 4-6 month competition with around 100 puppies entered including 5 other ACDs besides Kippy. Kipling took breed and took a Herding Group 3. I am very proud of how well he did particularly since body spots are undesireable according to the breed standard and his spot is front and center :-)
Hey there stranger from another stranger!! Congrats! I agree - not long winded at all and I am so happy to hear of you and the pups' winnings. Awesome.
Wow, you really have been busy, Ingrid! Congratulations on all the great things you've accomplished with Frost and Kipling. I love the big grin on Frost's face in the photo.
