I came here many times to post questions in my first year with Maya. That puppy kept me on my toes! I wish I had another question to post, but instead I am here to share that with heavy hearts, we laid our sweet dog Maya to rest on March 24. She had just turned four on March 12, and we thought we had many more years to enjoy with her. Maya sadly had a very aggressive and advanced cancer: acute lymphoid leukemia. We are grateful we could allow her pass peacefully and without suffering.
Maya (who went by too many nicknames to list here) was a true German Shepherd: loyal and protective, athletic and intelligent. She was also very affectionate, extremely sensitive, and a big ‘ole goofball. She was a reliable bright spot to our days. She could be counted on for enthusiastic greetings, plenty of cuddles, and companionship for whatever events the day might hold. Maya reminded us that these types of simple pleasures are what really matter in life.
Maya’s top desire was to be with her people, and for four years, she had lovingly been our shadows, always by our sides. The house does not quite feel like a home without her, and we already miss her enormously. We hope that once the tears subside, we can focus not on her death, but her beautiful life. For now, we weep and miss her so.
I'm so sorry for your loss. Maya was a beautiful girl. It's never easy, but to lose one at such a young age has to be especially difficult. I hope time will heal your pain. Run free at the Bridge, Maya....
I am sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose one of our best friends. To lose one so young hurts even more. You packed a lot of life and love into 4 years, and you let her go with dignity and respect- both of which she deserved. You gave her that gift, even though it hurt you so much to do it.
I agree that she was a beautiful girl. Such a happy look on her face! Remember her that way- chasing the hose spray, and smiling at the camera. Those memories will help ease the pain.
You will see her again at the Bridge. Until then she will live in your hearts - the healthy vibrant dog she was before her sickness.
Hugs to you and your family.
Rest in Peace, Beautiful Maya. Your beloved family will meet you at the Bridge when it's time.
