Ok, so Drift has some transient pain in her hips and back- it results in her chewing on herself until she's bloody. She's been on EVERY pain med imaginable, to no avail.
Last Friday I had a cold laser treatment done on her. She enjoyed every minute of it, laying on the floor and soaking up the attention.
Prior to the treatment, she had been actively chewing and had a pretty significant sore on her hip. Since the treatment (4 days) she has not even looked at her hips, and the sore has healed to the point of the scab falling off already. She will be getting another treatment this week.
She also seems to have more energy, and wants to play more- not sure if that's due to the laser, or just because she's feeling better...
I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with the cold or low level laser- I don't recall seeing anything on the board here about it- though I could have missed it....
I have not used it on my dog. But where I work they just got the laser in a month ago and the owners have come back with good results saying it really helps. Some of my coworkers have even tried it on themselves saying they felt great the next day.
My female, Kaia had 12 rounds of the cool laser treatments and I thought it worked really well.
We were treating her right hip & knee and from her F.C.E. injury and also a lick granuloma on her front leg.
It healed the granuloma really fast and seemed to help her hip and leg quite a bit. I would definitely recommend it.
I think it helps blood flow to the area as well as seems to reduce inflammation. Kaia seemed to enjoy it, so it must have felt good, she always got really relaxed during the treatment.
Sadly, my insurance didn't cover the treatments because they were sighted as "alternative medicine".
So, yeah, I am COMPLETELY impressed with the cold laser. Drift has only licked at her hip once, and that was kind of a half-hearted lick. The sore that was an open wound when we went in last week is almost completely healed and the hair is growing back.
Drift will be getting another treatment tomorrow, and I will keep everyone updated on her progress.
Thanks for your input, Cassie and Joyce!! I'm glad that others are hearing good things about the lasers too....
Paul was a complete skeptic when I took Drift in- I think he called it Voo-Doo He's a believer now, and wants to have some treatments on his knees!! I have to say, I didn't think there would be so MUCH improvement so FAST.... not that I am complaining!!
