Hi all,
I am a brand new trainer. I have been trolling around leerburg.com for a couple of months now...I really wish I would have found it about 15 months ago before I purchased my pup. I currently own a 9 month old male Doberman and recently bought the DVD "The Power of Training Dogs with Food" I love the DVD and Michael Ellis’s approach to training dogs and trainers. I have adopted his training methods with plans to purchase more DVDs in the future as training progresses. I am interested in all sorts of dog training and would love to compete in ring sport one day.
Welcome, Brett.
ME videos are awesome. If you are serious about sport training, you really should join a club and get started soon. Even with the videos, you will make mistakes that have to be corrected. In a club, you'll be observed and educated by objective, well-trained eyes, and I find it invaluable.
I adopted my dog at 2.5 yrs, and I may never be able to uncover some of the drives that were repressed.

Welcome!
Yes, the Ellis series is great. Are you planning on Power of Tug next?
Thank you! An yes I plan on moving through the ME videos. Right now my boy is doing great engagement in the house and backyard, but when we move to the front yard or park he is easily distracted…I have been experimenting with different food and toy rewards to see what works (I only use 1 item per session)…together I think we are slowly figuring it out lol.
Right now I live in Abilene, TX and to my knowledge there are no dog clubs within a 100 mile radius. In June I will be moving to Denver Colorado, I have been browsing the internet for clubs, if anyone has any recommendations please send me PM.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Brian and I have been following the LB webboard for a few years now. My wife and I had a 13 year Bichon Frise (who we just put down yesterday) and a 2 year old female GSD named Nala. Thanks to LB,ME, and all of your posts we have a well mannered dog that we're very proud to own.
Welcome, Brian!!
Sorry about your baby. It sounds like Nala is a huge comfort to you right now, and you have a new circle of friends, as well. Aren't GSDs wonderful?!
Hi Duane,
Thanks for your kind words. GSDs are simply the best. Nala is my 3rd one. I got my first GSD back in 1990 and thru the help of a family friend who was a K9 instructor in the State Police I was immediately addicted to dog training.
