A few of us are a "bit" addicted to David's wonderful accounts of Fama and if you are like me, you are probably waiting for the next episode
I've read that some people read them over coffee and make it an event. Does anyone else, or do you open it and read it right where you are? Me? I close my computer, grab my phone and run to the garage so I can hide for 5 minutes of undisturbed reading time. No "Mo-oooom!!!", no barking and no TV in the background. It's become my time for the day.
Anyone else have a Fama ritual, or a LB reading ritual?

I"m in a relatively new position at work, which is much easier and has more down-time, So Fama episodes are reserved for those lapses. Everything else I can pretty much catch on the fly, but I must have uninterrupted reading time for my favorite working dog.

You know, it's funny, I don't have a lot a time to squeeze in leisurely reading throughout my days but we've got a long weekend coming up and I tacked a couple of holidays onto it.
Most people probably think about heading out someplace or planning something special. We've got a little get together planned simply because it's hard to squeeze people in sometimes too. But over these next 4 days I'm totally looking forward to catching up on some Leerburg reading.
Other than the odd morning coffee, when I'm really ahead of schedule, much like you I'm sure, there's so little time just to call my own.
Reading David's story has become a bit of an obsession though. I do check in to see if there's more and it relieves the withdrawal just knowing there's more there. Then I have the fun of planning the alone time.
Haven't nailed down hubby yet but maybe this weekend. If I can get him just as addicted, things should go much smoother.
Geez David, you're shaping people's routines here....in a really, really, really good, interesting and fun way.

My Fama ritual goes like this:
I open a reply window to my last episode, type the appropriate "Episode #" at the top, and walk away from my computer, usually outside, to put things in order in my mind.
I lay out a rough outline of the episode in my head, including making mental notes of things that happened in that timeframe that I want to be sure to include.
Then I start on the first story in that episode, still in my head. I try and set the tone of how I want it to feel, and get the first paragraph formed, in substance. Then I walk back up and write it out.
I usually break for thought about every 2 paragraphs to make sure everything is organized in my head so it goes on paper in a natural way, so I don't have to go back and rephrase every sentence so it feels like it fits.
About the only thing I go back up and correct are spelling errors, and repetitive instances of words. If I use the verb walked 6 times in a row, I will go back and change some of them so as to not be boring.
After I complete an episode, I read back through it quickly to check for paragraphs that need broken up, or glaring mistakes, and then hit CTRL-A, CTRL-C, then SUBMIT.
I paste everything into the master text file and onto a couple of other places I am posting, and then have a beer.

Mine is standing in front of my scotch cabinet and deciding exactly which bottle of single malt I am going to have a dram of while reading the latest episode.

Is there any Glengoyne? Glenfiddich? Can I help?

How about some Macallan? OMG I would give just about anything for a bit of that about now. (Currently the sole adult with 6 kids- 4 under 4 years old. Agh!!!) Unfortunately the probability of me getting to the store to purchase a bottle is a (very) distant dream.... Canadian Whiskey and Diet Coke it is-after the house is quiet of course. 5 down 1 to go!

Edit reason: clarification: I'm not drowning in whiskey WHILE watching the kids, I promise :)

Ooooooh don't get me started. I'm something of a madman when it comes to Scotch. Not quantity, of course... only one dram per evening... but quality!
Connie I haven't had the privilege of trying any offerings from Glengoyne yet. It is a Highland distillery that I am eager to try though! Glenfiddich is certainly good, but what I would define as a "beginner's single malt" or a good introduction to single malts.
Amy, Macallan is one of my favorites when I am in the mood for a sweet Speyside. I have also stated to create my own blends of single malts (vatted malt) and my bottle of Macallan-12 is the perfect tool to add a touch of sweet to a peaty, smoky malt like my Bowmore-10.
If any of you get the chance, be sure and try the new Bruichladdich "The Laddie 10". It's tough to find since it's so new, but it is amazing for a single malt that is only 10 years old. It's also a great bargain at only $45!!
