The underside of the webbing between Ryuk's BACK FEET ONLY is swollen. He's sound, they seem like they could be itchy but he hasn't been playing with them.
It's bee a few days now, I've been keeping an eye on them, They haven't gotten any worse, but they aren't better either. Pawpads themselves are normal, he's letting me handle them and play with his toes. He let me wash them with no issue. They must smell off as Gambit tasted them earlier and was chattering up a storm (and Ryuk's not one to pee on his own legs....). I did a sniff test...they smell like popcorn...like all dog's paws seem to (seriously, smell your dog's paws lol).
I thought maybe allergies as it is the season and my housemates don't want to destroy the "nature" of the yard by mowing it (looks like a 2ft high jungle) but it's ONLY on the back feet which seems odd for allergies, wouldn't they effect all of the feet? Would stepping in something weird cause this? We don't really have any chemicals on the property but he goes everywhere with me....I don't recall him stepping in anything weird.
Pictures (note: they are NOT bloody, I gently cleaned them a bit so the fur is wet and with the direct flash against pink unhappy skin the shadows look like bloody chunks. They are swollen up a bit though on the underside and the skin is pinkish red.
Ears are fine and clear, no redness, material, or smell. He's not really paying any special attention to those paws, played with them a little after I dipped them in peroxide and water solution to clean them but I think that was more "ewwww you put gunk on my feet!" Gambit's shown more interest in his back feet lately...but this is a dog who can amuse himself for an hour rolling on Ryuk while he's asleep....interest in Ryuk's paws isn't new.
He hasn't been particularly itchy, smells normal, not favoring the paws at all.
