I'm looking for fairly recent graduates of either school to answer basic questions about the school. I've heard that Tom Rose is kind of compulsion heavy but have also recently read reviews of students leaving Triple Crown due to problems with the quality of instruction. I'm looking to attend one or the other and would like some input from people who have actually been in the programs.
I graduated Triple Crown nearly 10 years ago, and I loved it. But it has changed since than, so I couldn't give you any new grad input. Best of luck with choosing a school
The post 9/11 gi bill provides me with money for vocational schools. Unfortunately they have to go through some kind of registration/approval process. If they were approved it would cover almost all of the tuition and provide me with BAH(housing allowance) and some money for equipment. I'm not able to pay for it on my own right now. I'll be contacting them to see if they would consider looking into it.
Triple Crown and Tom Rose are approved along with a few others.
good luck with whatever school you wind up going to cathy , but if i was about to plunk down some serious cash to invest in my future , i'd do some research to see if ME qualifies .
i know he is in the process of moving the school , so his immersion program won't be fully up and running until next , by which time he might have approval ?
i'd contact him and let him know what your situation is and see if he might be moving towards approval .
A little late on the reply, but if you check Craigslist alot of times you can find people trying to find puppies to train at those two schools in particular. Go back a few months, and then contact them to see what they thought of it. Good luck. =)
I went on a road trip to check out both schools. Tom Rose puts more emphasis on the areas of dog training I'm more interested in so I'll be going there in January.
The only problem is exactly what you saw. I have to find a puppy of the right age and temperament to purchase. That isn't really something I wanted to do but they spend a lot of time on puppy imprinting.
Cathy, I have viewed Triple Crown's website and know of a couple of people that graduated from TC. They have been quite happy with their results. That said, I also read where TC takes dogs from the pound to train so they are more adoptable when they are returned. Is it possible your local pound would "loan" you a pup for this? Maybe a rescue would let you foster one for this time period? Both organizations could benefit from your schooling. Good luck!
