But since we never know if someone may not be a native english speaker, it's good to wait for clairifiaction.
in my opinion it is fine to train a dog to trail without using a scent article as well as train with using a scent article. scent articles for a lost person may or nay not always be available when you get called out on a search but they sure help when perhaps you are looking for that lost child that may have run away from say a school where there have been a lot of children out in that very school yard playing or left walking home etc. going in all different directions leaving scent all over the place. i think that a scent article would be a big help in cases like this.
