Got elec back at 9:05 last night. Most of area still out, but metro area and immediate suburbs are coming back on.
I have significant roof damage with ceiling coming down in garage, and my fence is down (poor Sadie; finally get a break from the heat and she's still stuck in the house). Water stopped coming up at my doorstep, but some of my neighbors did flood.
There are still a lot of problems in the outlying areas. Rivers are rising, and one upstream dam is failing. People that had no reason to run before the storm are now affected, and many of them are losing their homes. Fortunately, the area was overall prepared and loss of life has been minimal.
This has been quite the experience for Sadie. She is quite full of herself right now, as she was allowed to play guard dog, with no verbal corrections, during the blackout. During the hurricane, she was a little nervous, as she was picking that up from me. Now she is stir crazy from being inside with no exercise for three days (and she missed club night Wednesday!).
Glad to hear you and Sadie are okay, Duane. Thanks for checking in. It sounds like it's not quite over though. I can only imagine what it's like to go through a hurricane and all the flooding that goes along with it. Hang in there and stay safe.
Thanks, guys.
Things are improving daily. About a third of our area has elec, but that should improve significantly today. The banks and stores that don't have power are running on generators, and are receiving deliveries. I was able to get out this morning and get everything I needed, (except green onions).
I am still concerned about those around me. There are still people in outlying areas dealing with huge losses and grief, but there are some who fared okay and think that everything should be back to normal already. There will always be some that don't prepare ahead of time, then think that someone should fix everything for them.
I actually did let Sadie romp a bit in the rain and wind, but she didn't care for the horizontal rain. Missing club night may seem like the least of our worries, but it's the things that bring a little normalcy that let you know everything's gonna be okay; club meetings, high school football games, little league practice etc. I bet we have 100% turnout this coming Wednesday.
