(For those NOT raised on the East Coast, Hellmann's is called Best Foods west of the Rockies.)
Now for the real point: CRAZY TALK! lol
The tang of Miracle Whip would be fine, but it's too sweet. For me, they should have vinegared up real mayo a little but skipped the extra sugar that MW adds.
Growing up, I thought Miracle Whip was mayonnaise (that's what my mother called it LOL.) It wasn't until I was living on my own that I discovered real mayonnaise, and now I can barely tolerate the tanginess of Miracle Whip (though I do, for some recipes, mix it half and half with mayo).
For me, it's Hellman's Light. Less calories and fat than their regular, and I can't tell the difference.
Miracle Whip is too sweet for me too, and I don't like the zingy flavor so much. I have always preferred mayo. I usually buy the one that has olive oil in it.
I make an awesome curried egg salad with mayo, curry and lots of chopped parsley. It's to die for!

OMG!
How's the therapy going?
Yeah, I could share a few other stories about my mom's dietary/culinary idiosyncracies.
I went for probably twenty or thirty years without a jar of MW in my house. I only just recently started having it on hand for my mother-in-law who now comes to stay with us periodically and prefers it. That's when I learned that she uses it in her egg salad, so one day I tried mixing it half and half, and it wasn't bad. The extra tang went well with the egg salad.
I worked at Uniliver BF for a summer, I am sold on real mayo. Even better if I can get my hand on the one made with lime juice (we used to call it hispanic mayo in the plant) instead of lemon.
The mayo is a bit different for different region. US west coast and west Can has a bit more salt if I recall correctly.
