My dogs....
Zasha is Russian for: defender of the people. For her person....She does that.
Bodie's name is Bodacious which means: remarkable/ noteworthy. Those that know him...know how true this is.

Oliver and Leo came pre-named.
I do know what Pomfret means, though. It's a town in Connecticut. (No, I did NOT name my dog "French Fry*," as a board member suggested when I said his name was Pomfret. lol)
* Pommes Frites

Oh gawd...Please don't laugh....
Ironhide: Means Transformer? Hide of Iron?? (My son was 3 when he picked it for a boy puppy, the litter ended up being only girls, he didn't want to pick another name)
Gladiator: Means Hunky Russell Crowe? I am not sure there is another meaning?? Although, the dictionary says "1.(in ancient Rome) A man trained to fight with weapons against other men or wild animals in an arena." I still think my name meaning is better.
Cream Puff: Means Pastry dessert, perfect name for a poufy Pom puppy
Duke Nukem: Means video game character, not sure if that counts as a "name meaning"...
Coija (Coy-a): Means "Queen" in Incan; and it definitely suits her
Lokeij (Lo-key): Norse God of Mischief
Please don't ask our cats names.....
LOL - this is fun!

Harley he kind of came with the name, means spacious meadow. I think he should be the one who never sleep.
Dexter name after the tv show by the BF. He should be the Cozy because he think that sleeping by the fire place is what he should do.
The horses and cats have far better names.

I have never looked up their actual name meanings until now. I name them after a "Moore."
Roger Moore - James Bond, but the meaning is famous spear.
Lexi- came named, meaning Defender, Protector of man. For all 7 pounds she does a pretty good job.
Mandy = she who must be loved..That fits, but I have called her Bitty since she was a pup, of the tiniest, that also fits.
I have a new pup arriving in 4 weeks..I dub thee..
Clayton - Mortal

Love all the names!
Grace - Simple elegance or refinement of movement. Totally fits her! Grace is full of goodness inside and out. She is named after the hymn, Amazing Grace, a favorite of my mom's.
Kira is actually Akira, which means "intelligent" in Japanese. Fits that she is the smartest dog I've ever had, with stunning work ethic and a desire to work with me as a partner. She is 100% a thinking dog.
Vigo is named after the character, Vigo the Carpathian, in Ghost Busters 2. I also liked the name because I like the actor Viggo Mortensen. Austin got to name Vigo and he had the most horrible idea...like 10 syllables long! We settled on Vigo and it's grown on me. I wanted Gatsby, since our cairn terrier is named Daisy (Great Gatsby reference) Looking it up, the name means "war". Hmm...not sure how that fits, except maybe the internal war he has going on to be afraid or to be confident.

Natasha Noelle. My dogs have middle names. I chose Natasha just because I had always liked the name. For the middle name, I was just trying some out and Noelle sounded like it went well with it.
Imagine my surprise when I realized I had named my dog Christmas Christmas! I sort of had it in the back of my mind what the French meaning of Noel was, but I had no idea at the time that apparently Natasha means the same thing in Italian. At least that's what all name-meaning sites say.
Of course nowadays she's almost always called just Tash.
Logan is either Scottish or Gaelic and means "little hollow," or "from the little hollow." Again, I had no idea of the meaning and just chose it because I liked it.
His middle name is Lorenzo and he got it because that's what my husband really wanted to name him, but I won out with Logan. Looking up the meaning of Lorenzo, I get lots of different ones, so I'm not really sure.
