Why pay for someone else to make treats for you when you can slice up meat and put it in the oven for 3 hours? Cheaply? I dunno. (I haven't trusted anything from hartz since I saw they were selling over the counter 'FLEA DROPS'. GMAB.)
For sweet potato chews (cut in planks lengthwise), I tend to keep it on as low as the oven will go, 190-220 deg F - for about 3 hours or until they're slightly pliable but not brittle. You can also do these in a dehydrator but it takes longer - overnight sometimes works, sometimes needs more time.
For chicken hearts/gizzards, I use the same temp setting and heat slowly over a couple of hours until they're dry, a jerky consistency and no longer greasy - then store in the fridge in a sealed container. I don't generally put meat in my dehydrator as it's harder to clean those trays than a cookie sheet.
I tried livers once and um it took me a month to get it all off the cookie sheet so I won't be doing that again. If I did, I'd use parchment papers.
