We found this pup wondering a neighborhood and after asking around we took him home. He appeared to have been away from his mama for the first night to me, he did a lot of whining and was checking Zuki out for milk when she saw her. Zuki was real sweet with him and we put him right next to her in a crate so he wouldn't be lonely...kinda worked.
Anyway I thought he looked like GSD maybe but perhaps mixed with collie or something else. He looks to me to be max 7 weeks probably 6. The middle teeth are still coming in. Let me know what you think...
It could easily pass for a GSD. Could be it is. "Probably" a blanket back. The black will "shrink" if its a blanket back. "possibly a bi-color. The blacck won't "shrink".
I agree on the age.
When you say "mixed with a Collie" are you basing that on the coat? There are long coated GSDs. One of mine has a coat that would make a show Collie proud. It's a recessive gene. Both parents have to carry it. Both my dog's parents were short coated as were all the pups but him. Not uncommon at all.
My long coat had much fuzzier ears even at that age. Lots of different lengths in the short coated GSDs from slick to full and thick.
That pup looks identical to a GSD one of our neighbors got so my vote is all GSD also.
Can't believe no one responded with a resounding "Awwwww, how cute" yet! Well, I think that is one awesome, cute pup. Is he going to be a permanent addition to your family? Sure would be hard to resist.
I was going to say AWWW CUTE but I'm not allowed to bring any more mammals home right now. Is the white chest blaze fairly typical in GSD pups?
ETA: he's highly photogenic and it's clear he thinks he's a show dog
Once you get away from the cookie cutter show line GSDs facial structure can vary a lot. Some look more wolf like facially while some look more Collie like.......Then go to a breed dogs show and see the difference in the show Collie's face is from someones average pet. They are breed for what is called "The look of eagles".
Now...isn't that strange that some dog folks want a dog with an eagle's face?!! :evil grin:
