Hadn't had the news on all day, but watched at five o'clock and saw a report of the devastation in Oklahoma. I thought of you and your family, too, Becky. I'm not sure what part of the state you're in. I hope you're all right.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the OKC area affected by the tornado. Sure would be nice to hear that Becky and her family are all safe.
The devastation shown on TV is hard to comprehend. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this series of tornadoes in Oklahoma. I'm so sad to hear about all the casualties, and I'm hoping for miracles for those still missing.

Me too. It's 7:45 am here and I'm watching the shocking and terrible morning news.
We are all OK. Luckily, the death toll has just been revised down.
On another board that I am on, people are ranting about lack of shelters at the school(s). This particular board is largely populated with people that have distincty liberal/Dem leanings. (I actually enjoy it because it's not just everyone agreeing with me all the time), but sometimes I want to blow my top.
You just cannot expect "the government" to mandate/provide your safety at all times from all events. Oh, so what if building a school costs ten times what it should to mandate the installation of shelters! Just pay for it you peons!
FEMA can largely shove it, too. Oh yeah, give us some poisonous trailers to live in a few months from now. Who was providing shelter, food, clothes, and transportation TO all of the above within minutes of the storm? It was CHURCHES AND NEIGHBORS that hadn't lost everything.
The only "government" that people really trust here is the "government" consisting of our fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers and neighbors that make up our first responders. After you leave the local and state level, the "government" could give two s**ts about anyone here. Real HELP comes from PEOPLE just like us, all over the country and the world. The New Orleans/Katrina mind-set contrasts sharply with Oklahomas'; there many people were squalling for the "(federal) government" to HELP them (ie, come pick me up at my door and deliver me to my nice, new apartment with all the amenities) while a lot of them sat on their butts - here we help ourselves and will gladly accept the help of others like us. Notice that our cops didn't become the worst criminals that people had to look out for. Notice there was no looting and lawlessness. I am proud of my state.
