I haven't been posting regularly, so I kinda feel guilty coming by begging for healing thoughts.
At the pool, I use a 10-12 inch long piece of soft some kind of synthetic rope for a retrieval toy. It lets Turbo close his mouth better than with a ball or something so he doesn't take in as much water while swimming with it.
Used this piece of rope for like 3 years. Well, yesterday evening, out of nowhere he f****n' ate it! I threw it, he jumped in all happy to retrieve it, brought it make to the steps, climbed out of the pool, and ate the dang thing!
I couldn't get to him in time to grab it. I don't know what the hell he was thinking, but now we are going to the vet in the morning to figure out where it is.
He feels fine. If I hadn't seen him swallow it, I would not know anything was amiss. But waiting on its arrival has been fruitless, so we will do this the hard way, I guess.
Appointment is at 9:15 in the a.m. I'll post back with our findings. Until then, cross your paws for Turbo.

So the plan is barium x-rays?
I'm kinda thinking it's not the worst thing he could have eaten. Pieces of tugs and washcloths and other not-hard things, at least in a big dog, I have heard of at least one (I mean really heard, from owner ... not the urban myth kind of "heard") having x-rays and having the vet see nothing getting messed up and then waiting (with some vet assistance) for it to move along.
I don't remember full details; I just remember they avoided surgery.
Turbo is smaller and I understand that one maybe-sorta-similar thing doesn't mean much, but it's all I have.
My paws are totally crossed. I'll be waiting for (and expecting) good news.
Not really sure of the plan. I called the vet as they were walking out the door for the day to let them know it hadn't passed on its own and to get an appointment.
Your post and link definitely puts me a little more at ease.
And the fact that he is acting TOTALLY himself has to be a positive.
