We already have her. After owning mostly smaller dogs and mutts all our lives, we wanted to experience a large pure-bred dog but more serious of a dog than just a Golden or a Lab. I always wanted a GSD but thought maybe it was too powerful of a dog to handle. Then, under an unusual set of circumstances, along came Bailey, our Malinois. It was an opportunity we couldn't pass up, even though, at the time, we didn't know much about the breed. We've had our share of challenges with her and she has taught us how much of a responsibility it is to own a dog like that. As Duane had said so well in a past post, she definitely made us up our game but, with that, she has become our dream dog. She may end up being our last dog but what a fitting tribute that would be.

One day I would love to have a standard poodle. Right now bindi is pretty much a dream dog. SHe is so very good and such a smart dog, we are very blessed. At my age i may not get my standard poodle, being the age I am. So I have decided the best dog to own is the one I have and to make the best of it. I love my Bindi girl, and my cody man and terra too.
love sharon and her pups

I've got the perfect GSD I've always dreamed about. Hands down the best dog I've ever owned out of many. I knew that by the time he was 6-7 months old.
I've also always wanted an Airedale. If I knew of good working lines before I got my GSDs I would probably have one. Now I know of some but size and my age may have A bearing on my next dog. It just may be another Border terrier.......with out the hunting/digging now. Knees and back suck!
For many reasons, not all, Borders were the best of the half dozen terrier x and terrier breeds I've owned over the years.
old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks |

I daydream about finding another dog almost exactly like the female Doberman I lost in 2008, when she was 12. She just had a couple of minor quirks I could do without, but otherwise, she will always be "the one." But I know we can never replace that special dog in our lives, and if we're lucky, we'll own quite a few great dogs.
I've always loved the Rhodesian Ridgeback. If I could find one that was attentive, focused, and eager to please in obedience-style exercises...... I know there are a few of them out there doing obedience, rally, and agility, but I guess in general, they are what we would call in the other thread an "off-breed" for those disciplines. (And I'd gladly own one without a ridge, too. That's not important to me.)

When I was in Florida for my sick father I walked past a petstore (of course I went in). They had puppies in CRIBS, ridiculous.
There was a yorkshire terrier pup, who was not black and tan, but marked like a shelty-tan face, black eye rims and nose, white chest. He had tons of engagement. I taught him to "sit" in his crib. He was really smart and hooked on, looked dying to learn.
I actually went back and looked again, but he was sold (THANK GOD)
I know 0 about that breed, have always discounted them as silly froo-froos. But I am old now......

When I do too much daydreaming, I get another dog (see photo below.) I can't daydream any more for a while.
Still, I'd love one of those blocky-headed English Goldens...or a Ridgeback...or a Vizsla...or a Cannan Dog...
