I just have no words on this one.....
If I could locate the original source (and I am trying), I would be on the phone to Child Protective Services in a micro-heartbeat.
From the original facebook poster: the person who posted it said: "Thank you to all of you that messaged me directly asking me to identify the source of this clip, but sadly it was sent to me anonymously and I know no more about its origins that you do by watching it. But in putting it on my page I am giving it the widest possible circulation so that the originators can be identified and the proper action taken to protect the child involved and to rescue the dog if needed."
And there's a Nature Made Fish Oil commercial in the background, so it stands to reason it's somewhere in the US, though it could be a Canadian household watching an American TV network.
Thank heavens the dog has good bite inhibition but that's only going to last so long with the asshat parent. It still allows the dog to control the child. I'd love to control the asshat.
"Don't pick a fight with an old man. They know their limitations and will just shoot you".
The cocky chuckle at the end (IMO dismissing, or showing complete unconcern for, the dog's threat to the child) makes me want to place my size 9 somewhere uncomfortable for him.
I was just waiting for a serious bite! I flinched everytime I saw the dog indicate its displeasure, long before the first bite occured...
This is definitely a case for CPS if these parents are identified. The dog will be blamed for anything that happens and there are enough bad Pit stories in the news as it is.
Also, it REALLY scares me because this child has learned this is an ok way to behave around dogs. Picture this kid playing at the park, someone sitting innocently with their dog on the grass, kid runs over and does this to their dog? If this happened to me, the parents would be leaving the park crying - this is completely unnacceptable.

It made me nauseated to watch too, Niomi. My fear for that child is huge. IMO, this is beyond irresponsible; this is child endangerment of the first order.
And yes, on top of the immediate danger, the child is learning to play with dogs this way.
I hope to heaven this child is identified somehow. I'm so scared by this .....
