Anybody here own one or know about them? I only knew one person with one and she was so beautifully trained it was a joy to watch her.

There's been back-and-forth over the years, I think, about which have been called separate breeds, but someone else can answer that, I'm sure. I just wanted to mention that I have read that most of the "wolves" in the movie "The Company of Wolves" were dyed Tervs!

Different varieties of an original breed which are virtually never inter-mixed can eventually be considered as separate breeds ... Here we mainly see the black Groenendael long-coat "Belgian Shepherd" and the mostly sable long-coat Tervuren, and of course the Malinois -- But having owned a number of Irish Wolfhounds, the broken-coat/rough-coat "wire-haired" Laekenois appeals to me as well

Mara Jessup Webboard User Reg: 12-28-2005 Posts: 2316 Loc: Offline	I know a Tervuren. He is in training as a SAR dog. Really gorgeous, nice drive, smart and and handler sensitive (in a good way). Not a big dog either - I think he's 40-45#. Looks a bit bigger with all that coat though. K-9 Knitter

Now, as I am over 29(WAY OVER!!...LOL), that size is appealing. I'll bet you have some adjusting to do after having 80-90 lbs. at the other end of the leash.

UKC recognizes them as varieties of Belgium Shepherds. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks
