I looked at his "about" section and he mentions all dogs are xrayed for hip "dysphasia" I know nothing about ppd's but $ 6500. for one needing that much works seems off, some of the terminology seems not quite right either but jmo.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family.
According to the"about" section, they intentionally mix working lines with show lines to manipulate the temperament and produce companion dogs.
I'm always taken aback when I see this. It is a phrase designed to convince cautious buyers to take a chance on a dog that they may otherwise be leery of (lower the buyer's defenses).
I'm always suspicious that this is a way to hide faulty bloodlines in expensive dogs.
ETA: I don't know how old the video clips are, but it sure looks like the dog has a ways to go. I didn't see any obedience in the protection work.

No, Jodi. I mean these dogs, according to the breeder, are bred to have stable temperaments. This is a selling point for someone who's considering buying a ppd, but is scared that they'll end up with a mean, dangerous dog. The breeder says "These dogs are bred to be stable", to reassure the buyer that this ppd can be trusted around the kids.
What they are actually doing is taking quality imported European lines and breeding in show lines, presumably to create a protection dog that isn't as hell-bent as the pure working dog. This is compromising quality, IMO. I think you can buy a better dog and have it trained well for the same money, if not less.
If I were selecting a protection dog, I would want the best dog I could get. Quality breeders like Ed, Betty Waldron, and a local breeder that I train with, breed the best working lines they can get, and select individuals with desirable traits to pass on temperament and stability.
Thanks Duane! Interestingly, I had dinner with a friend last night who knew exactly who this guy is and had the same opinion. We discussed his lines in depth and then a long discussion on all lines began LOL.
I'm going to talk with the family today and see if I cannot get them to find a more respectable seller with better dogs.
