I don't post often any more but still read a lot.....
Long story short, someone maliciously unlocked our gate this morning and let our dogs out. A good Samaritan found Bella a grabbed her but that scared Hazard and he ran. He figured it wasn't the same owner due to his personality and waited a bit to call us since his daughter was enjoying Bella. We have had a large number of people out looking, AC and the PD are even out searching but it had been 8 hours in sub zero temps. He's never been out in that for more than a few minutes. Please pray for Haz's safe return home.

Oh, no, Amy, I'm so sorry to hear this! I can't imagine how difficult this is for you. You absolutely have my prayers and good thoughts for a positive outcome.
Since there are a lot of folks who read this board who are not actual members, maybe you could give a description of Haz here. Never know who might see it and pass on the information, etc.
Wishing you the very best of luck. Please, please come home, Hazard!

Oh no!
Can you recruit an army of people (as many as possible) to put up reward posters?
Is he tagged with your phone number?
Is someone phoning animal shelters, rescues, vets, and police departments? (I'd phone ... shelter websites aren't reliably up-to-date even on weekdays.) This frees you up for looking (you with the voice he knows).
I would have the "army" go door to door. This has been the most useful in each of the lost-dog searches I've been involved in.

Thank God, he is home!!!! We received a "sighting" about 2 hours after he went missing it and led us to him a half hour after posting here. He had traveled 10 miles, crossed the busiest street in town and a US highway. My husband tracked him and spotted him in shelter belt across a frozen marsh ground. 3/4 mile recall and he came flying, crying and shaking to us. I'm convinced it was your prayers that helped us find him. My dogs will never pee alone again. Hoping the other 5 dogs that were also let out find their ways home as well!

Oh, I am very, very relieved to hear he is home!
Other five dogs? Forgive me, Amy, I can't remember how many dogs you have, and I got the impression from the OP that it was just your yard that was opened up. I hope they will all end up home and safe, too. Just hearing that this was a deliberate act by some malicious person has me pretty enraged.

Someone let out five neighbor dogs? What happened?
But THANK HEAVEN Haz is back! Imagine his relief when he heard you and your husband call?!
THANK YOU for telling us right away!!

EGADS what a scary incident! And the weather is GHASTLY.
We had police/DNR/ helicopters with heat seeking vision looking for a fellow who had crashed his car, got all wet, and because he was loaded took off into the woods to evade police.
He was found in a neighboring town this am, he had phoned a buddy to pick him up.
My point is the weather is dangerous right now. Glad you got your dog home!

My lord, what an awful incident. Glad to hear you're dog is home safe.
I've picked up dogs that have traveled huge distances when lost, 20-30 miles and usually suggested people search in at least a 50 mile radius from where the dog was lost. Humans usually greatly underestimate the distance a dog can travel in a short time period.
Again, I'm so glad your dog is home ok.
My animals are not "like" family, they ARE family. |

Oh wow Amy. How scary! So VERY glad that Haz is home safe and sound now. Kenzi took off and was gone overnight a few months after I first got her. She showed up a mile from home. I remember how scary it was and how relieved I was to get the phone call that someone had found her.
