Shyner is gone. She went to the Bridge much the same way she lived her life- quietly and without fuss. She passed in her sleep last night at the foot of the bed where she slept for nearly 12 years - she would have been 13 in June.
Shyner was never destined to have an alphabet following her name. She was content to give love. She was content to be the one I always turned to first when I needed a furry body to bury my tears in. She was content to be who she was- and we were OK with that.
On November 22, my vet diagnosed a brain tumor and told me that Shyner would only have about 2 weeks to live. We did not expect to have her with us for Christmas, but Shyner had other plans. She not only lived 3 months, she was never affected by the tumor except for the last couple of days when she stopped eating. Shyner was herself to the end, and I am grateful for that.
So I say goodbye to my little black Shyner dog. I know it's scary, but when you get to the Bridge Mokie and Brandy will be there to take care of you until I get there. I am so very sorry that I could not take away the tumor that took you from me. I am so very sorry that you died alone on the floor. I miss you more than words can say. I love you, Shyner. Now and forever.

Edit reason: can't get pic to work
She didn't die alone, Kelly. She died exactly where she wanted to be, surrounded by love and sleeping peacefully.
So true. "She passed in her sleep last night at the foot of the bed where she slept for nearly 12 years......" She was within the aura of your love, Kelly. I know she didn't feel alone.
I know Shyner took a huge piece of your heart with her. I hope, with time, you will be able to smile on the memories you made with her over the many wonderful and loving years you had together. What a strong, courageous, and determined girl she was, beautiful on the inside and out.
So very sorry for the loss of your Shyner, I know you have been expecting it, but that won’t have diminished the awful pain and sense of loss you are going through now.
Shyner was never destined to have an alphabet following her name. She was content to give love. She was content to be the one I always turned to first when I needed a furry body to bury my tears in. She was content to be who she was- and we were OK with that.
She gets the whole alphabet Kel:
