I'm looking to do something fun, exciting and tiring with my 10mo pitbull pup, I think nosework would be great for him. I have a few questions about the On-Demand video, can I watch it as many times as I need? Do I technically own a "virtual" copy of the dvd so to speak?
My other question is, I know that all of these scents are "legal", could you work in say THC (Marijuana), or another scent?

Rob, you're talking about the Andrew Ramsey DVD, right?
You probably already saw this part:
"Save money on select DVDs when you buy the streaming videos!
If you buy the streaming video version of qualifying Leerburg DVDs, you'll automatically get an online coupon for the amount you paid off the price of the DVD! Check your email for your order confirmation, which will include a one-time-use coupon specifically for you. Enter this coupon code when you check out with the DVD in your cart, and you'll only have to pay the difference on your purchase." (because this video is on the http://leerburg.com/flix/save.php list).
But I understand that you are asking how often and for how long a time you can view the online version.
I'll find out and post back.

Yes Connie, I'm mainly only looking to stream it online - I don't have a DVD player but I have a smartphone and laptop that I can stream it to while training in my garage.

I will certainly find out. It's Friday evening, so it may not be until Monday, but still, I'll try. :-)

Hey, beggers can't be choosers
Would you say that with Andrews' videos it would be better then paying $150+ for a 6 week class?

That would completely depend on who taught the class, and how.
For me, the LB videos are irreplaceable because of the ability to rewind, fast forward, and watch all over, again and again.
When I was learning marker training, way back (I'm thinking 2007?), I watched the first release of the Ellis video "Power of Training Dogs with Food," many times. I still refer to it on occasion. There is no class that offers that.
But it depends on the way you learn best, and on the quality of the class.
My personal opinion is that I'd want the video, no matter what other learning venues I had.
But others will reply, too.

Rob,
Connie sent me an email about your post. When you purchase a streaming version of one of our DVD's you can watch it as many times as you wish. There is no limit to that. We currently have the stream available for 5 years with unlimited views.
On the other hand our on-line university training is set up as a 6 week course. The students have access to the material for 12 weeks. After 12 weeks the material is not available. We are running it exactly like students who take an on-line university course. When the course is done - it's done.
Trying to compare the nose work training to the basic obedience course is a little difficult. If I had to recommend a path - I would do the 6 week course first. Get your foundation done first. I go through marker training in detail - which is why I included the full version of THE POWER OF TRAINING DOG'S WITH MARKERS as part of the 150 videos in the course.
Once you go through this course - if you feel like going into a dog sport, then try the nose work.
Hope this helps
Ed

Excellent point ED!
The only thing is the Nose work class I went to didn't cover markers at all thus your "THE POWER OF TRAINING DOG'S WITH MARKERS is a great first choice.
I asked the gal why she didn't use markers and she said it was too hard to mark the exact moment you wanted the dog to respond to.
She was running the class so I kept my mouth shut.
Does the Ramsey K9 Nose Work video use markers?
I wondered about that when one of their certified trainers told our class they don't.
VERY interesting since I marker trained my older dog Thunder to all of his titles including the cad/HR work.
old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks |

Thanks for the quick responses folks, Ed - I'm a little confused by your post and the comment about obedience, we recently sent our dog to professional obedience for 4 weeks and he has returned with a amazing knowledge base of commands, we're currently working with him on what I'm calling the transfer of command. Since Axle views the trainer he trained with for 4 weeks as his leader, we need to go through the process of teaching him that we are his true leaders and he needs to listen.
As for the nosework training, from the description it lays out absolutely everything I will need to learn. I do like the idea of being able to watch it multiple times in order to gain a concrete understanding.
I think I would learn better from personal 1 on 1 with a trainer if I were to go that route and wouldn't purchase your on-demand Andrew Ramsey video. Only because I would assume I would learn everything needed to train my dog for Nosework with the trainer - or with the video.
Hope that all makes sense!

No marking at source in the Andrew Ramsey videos. The only people I know of doing that are some medical alert trainers and Mike. I highly recommend the Ramsey videos though. I think you would be fine using them instead of going to a class. From what I have heard the classes are very slow paced. YMMV
