I gotta learn to be deaf, dumb, blind.
The good news, I think the Doberman that I have, and that is too long a story, will be adopted as early as next weekend by an able and dedicated dog person. Her reward will be an excellent companion. His reward will be a forever home.
The bad news, I think I have taken in another GSD, 2 year old male, who was scheduled for the needle tomorrow. Another long story. He's in a kennel, and I'll have to keep him there until the Doberman goes. Ah well. Just what I need is another dog. There is the possibility I might have a home for him. If not, he has a home.
Once again I shall assert this is the very last time.
Yup. Deaf, dumb, blind. How much easier it will be. I fully know that you can't help every dog but it just makes me sick to think of all of the dogs that are so needlessly put down for what seem to me to be trivial excuses.
I don't think I'm a pansy push over but God what is wrong with people?
Ah, thy name is frustration.

Tell me about it.. there's a bitey RUDE cuss of a puppy, a lab/chow mix, at the shelter.. who's available to rescue only. I'm in love, she sounds like a real pain in the harness. It's a good thing I don't have a farm.
Pics of the new guy? What's his crime, chewed up the couch when he didn't get his daily walk?

Like in the "starfish story", you can't make a difference to all dogs but you can make a difference and be important to that one particular dog.
Just think of the wonderful life the Doberman will have, all due to you. The GSD now has a chance at a wonderful life, all due to you.
No you can't save them all but you can help them one at a time and improve their lives by educating people (as much as people like this can be educated). Kudos to you for doing what you can.

You have a big heart, Mike. The dogs that come into your life are very lucky & blessed to have you in their lives even if just for a short time.
Making a difference....1 dog at a time.

I gotta learn to be deaf, dumb, blind. Nice try, but it won't work. You can't change your good heart.
Once again I shall assert this is the very last time. Which it will be until the next time.
I don't think I'm a pansy push over but God what is wrong with people? I could be wrong, but I believe it is the human factor.
Ah, thy name is frustration. Understandably so. If your frustration level is greater than the reward you get from helping these dogs; it is time to take a break and recharge. No shame in that. It gives you a chance to build your strength and fight another day.

You are a special kind of person, Mike. One that can't - no matter how hard you try- you just can't say no to a dog that needs you.
They call to your soul-
I would like to hear more about the new guy, and maybe some pics?!?

Kelly,
If I could figure out how to post a picture I would.
I am nothing if not a maladroit.
And after the Doberman goes to its new home on Sunday, and the GSD actually arrives here on Monday, I'll have a few tales to tell.
