I was wondering if anyone here knows about Military working dog pedigrees. We have the military dog physical exam information from Lackland AFB in Texas. We know he was sold to the U.S. Airforce in 2006 and that he is Czech in origin but the breeder that sold him was from Budel, Holland. Attempting to find lineage is proving quite challenging. The paperwork does say something about a privacy act for information on the dog but there has to be a way to find something somewhere?
I'll try again. I guess my first attempt from my phone didn't go through.
I doubt you will be able to find anything. There is nothing in any of their records that indicates the pedigree of the dog. Most of them come from brokers in Holland, not direct from breeders. I have tried to find out exactly where my dog came from and have had no success. I will be doing more digging when I get home though, so I may find something.
His name is Argo and his tattoo number is L155 and microchip is 528246000185045. He was sold by Policedog center De Bergakkers in the Netherlands. They did find record of the dog and know he is from Slovakia but said nothing further could be found because and I quote, "As you can see below, from the internet pedigree online (stambomen online, in Dutch)I have searched on the chip number, no result found. This is because of this fact: this website does not contain the pedigree of original dogs from abroad, from outside Holland: Slovakia is another country but a part of the European Union." This is all they could tell me and they are the ones that trained the dog. So frustrating, how can it be that they don't know the pedigrees and origins of the dogs they are selling for police work?
I'll apologize if this is not allowed, but you might want to try workingdog.eu there's alot of knowledgeable pedigree people there on working lines. I know the breeder I got my czech dog from knows quite a bit and he's on there alot.
The military and the police have nor real interest or use for pedigrees. All they look for is a dog that can do the job.
With that in mind I doubt the pedigree is even known by the broker.
From my limited understanding, breeders take dogs to brokers for testing, if they pass, they are purchased. No pedigree or anything required or stored. They really don't care about anything outside of the performance of the dog.
That is a very simplified explanation, and is only what I have heard from a broker in the US.
