They were developed by a man named Brian Plummer. He basically bred a strain of JRTs that were used exclusively on rats.
The Brown and white are pretty much his whole line of dogs.
He was/is (not sure if he's still alive) known in the terrier world as a great story teller.
I have a couple of his books and for pure humor "Tales of a Rat-Hunting Man" is supposed to be stories of his youth and the characters he met on the way.
It's a stitch!
I don't know if he used Beagles but he was concerned with rat hunting only and developing a JRT to his ideals.
I have a book called Rats; The story of a dog soldier, about a stray Jack in Northern Ireland that decided to hook up with some squaddies during the 70's, and he would jump into the hovering helicopters and go along for the ride, you would probably enjoy that Bob!
According to no.1 son, these Plummers are, quote, 'Nobby little buggers mum!'
"According to no.1 son, these Plummers are, quote, 'Nobby little buggers mum!'" smiley for
I would agree with that assessment.
I've hunted with a few of the UK terrier men that have come over here to judge our terrier/Lurcher trials.
GREAT folks and I love all their expressions.
To a person they were all fascinated with the different quarry we have here in the States.
This was all almost 10 and more yrs ago. I gave up digging at about 60 yrs old. The knees and back ain't what they used to be.
Wow, cute is right. Those little guys look smart enough to learn how to say Nannannana too.
LOL, No.2 grandson arrived 2 weeks ago, Sidney Laurence, he failed to say anything on meeting nannananna, do you think I should get him some extra tutoring?!
