I also remember being in elementary school and standing in line to get my sugar cube with the oral vaccine in it (which I understand was developed by someone else, after Dr. Salk's work on the injectable vaccine). We sure could use another Dr. Salk these days......

The sugar cubes sure made it a lot easier. One of my older sisters still has the round vaccination scar on her shoulder. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks

Bob, I'm not sure what you mean by this. Was it (is it) possible to pass on immunity that way, through body fluid contact? I know you can catch many diseases that way, but I never knew that you can pass on immunity that simply. Just curious.

A girl in my kindergarten class became ill and never came back to school.
