FWIW: Scientific mind not being EXACTLY in touch with politically correctness is kind of a given where I work. And it looks to me like the tat covered scientist loved pin up girls. So what?

I knew in the OP what Peter was talking about. I think it's an amazing milestone in the human exploration of space that our species has landed a spacecraft on a comet, and I am grateful to each and every person involved in the mission, regardless of what they wear to work.

There are quirky people in the world, in all walks of life, and as long as they're not hurting others, it's no big deal to me, and in fact makes life more interesting. But when you are an intelligent adult and you are making a public appearance about such a huge event, I do believe you have a certain responsibility to -- well, I'm not sure I would even call it political correctness. Maybe just a general sense of decency and respect. This was not some music awards show, after all.

Food for thought: If one of the female scientists from the mission had appeared on television wearing a shirt depicting scantily clad, well-endowed men, in sexually provocative poses, I wonder what the public reaction would have been?

All said and done, I think it's a shame this "wardrobe malfunction" had to detract from the news of the mission itself, and I wish this person had given just a little bit more thought to his choice of clothing on that day.

What in the world and or who are you writing about?

I like a good rant as much as the next guy, and often engage in one as a cathartic of sorts but the rant has to have form and substance, and be inviting to those who might be inspired to offer a pro or con position. Nothing like a counter rant to get the juices flowing.

Then too, I am, by genetic predisposition, inclined to argue over the most inconsequential of issues, more to aggravate than to illuminate. Mea culpa.

So, don't waste an otherwise perfectly good rant through cryptic obfuscation.

WELL... Unfortunately, that poor man is not married to a modern-day version of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy -- When JFK was preparing to go on national television & warn Americans about the Cuban Missle Crisis, he was cautioned by Kenny O'Donnell (Chief of Staff) to, "Make sure JACKIE picks out what you wear in front of the cameras!" IMHO, the tyranny of "Political Correctness" has gotten utterly out of hand (and really, who expects "nerdy types" to dress with any social aplomb?).
