My son had a visiting Frenchy at the farm for a week. 6 mos old. He's a quality pup, was pricey, from a guality breeder. We looked for months to find a good one.
What a NICE dog! Super smart (not like the Pinker of course) but smarter than my English Shepherd. Thought he'd be eaten the first day, but he was very willing to learn. Pretty darn athletic (went 4 miles off leash twice, with the big dogs on a family walk) No respiratory impairment. Quiet. Loves tug. Nice pit type personality, not like an English Bulldog. Fetches. Learned sit and down while here with us. Friendly and bold but not hyper. And all in a 20 lb package.
I like them. I have know a couple Frenchys. Glad that he got a nice one.
And several English bull dogs with horrible heat intolerance. I can't understand what people see in the bull dogs.... but that's just me...not offense to any bull dog owners. But the ones that I have seen & 2 are going way way back 35 years ago....& more recent...they just don't have a lot of endurance & the heat intolerance is really hard to live with to me. My neighbor had one when Zasha as a young pup....she would play with him & he'd last less then 10 minutes & that was in the between Feb & April until I moved away (in CT) The owners would make it around the block & have to drop the dog back off home & continue their walk. In the last spring thru early fall they had to bring the dog in & bathe him in cool water to reduce his body temp after a walk.
