I hope this is right place. It is re:tracking but not sure if it is the right area but I couldn't find a better fit. I did use search function and found nothing on this club or group.
I was referred by breeder to do nose-work with dogs at NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CANINE SCENT-WORK. I believe its nacsw.net.
Anyone have experience with this group. Does it fit with the style or mentality of training tracking/search in various Leerburg articles and dvds.
Am I better off grabbing some dvds and such from here and training?

I have just recently started taking nosework classes with one of my dogs, so I'm not putting myself out as any kind of expert, but based on what I've learned in class and from people I know who are actively involved in the sport, I may be able to answer a couple of your questions.
The organization you were referred to, the NACSW, nacsw.net, is not a club or a training facility you go to. Rather, it is the primary and oldest governing organization for the sport of canine nosework. They sanction trials around the country where you can go and compete and earn titles. They also provide instructor certification and put on workshops at different locations. Visit the site! There is a lot of information there for beginners.
And yes, the training methods used in teaching a dog the sport of nosework involve positive reinforcement, and since Leerburg is selling DVDs and has some free videos on it, I think it's safe to say it fits in with their training philosophies.
IMO, the best way for you to get started would be to check out the dog training facilities in your area and sign up for beginner classes! Of course, the Andrew Ramsey DVDs sold here look very educational and comprehensive, and I'm thinking of buying them myself to supplement what I'm learning in my classes.
Finally, the sports of tracking and nosework are very different, although, yes, both involve the dog using his nose to find something.
I am interested in relationship building but with more real world application. Meaning I don't care about some random smell I would like the dog to find people and some objects that would be fun. In general I would like to the dog to find humans.
Okay, well, maybe the sport of nosework is not going to be up your alley. Sounds more like you want to train tracking, though I'm not entirely clear if this is just going to be a hobby or if you want to do real-life SAR.
Is the dog in question going to be the 8-week-old or 16-week-old pup mentioned in your previous thread?
I went with the 8 week old (came from dogs with nose work titles/jobs) and it will mostly be for hobby and fun with dog. It sounds like I would like to train in SAR style for fun; if that is possible. I don't have the work schedule to devote at this time to actual missions and what not.
I am using the Leerburg DVD "tracking through drive", and it's great! It teaches the method used by the royal Canadian mounted police, who train the top tracking dogs in the world.
I am doing it as a fun hobby with my dog, with my fingers crossed that maybe it will lead to something more; if we get good enough.
:-)
I don't know anything about the organization you mentioned though, sorry. But I definitely recommend the drive tracking DVD.
Follow question re:this WEBSITE website and their titles. Is this the only way to TITLE your dog in tracking. I know IPO has tracking but that is wrapped up in a lot of other training as well. I am just looking for options for titles in tracking alone.
You can title in tracking through the AKC. Tracking is a "stand alone" event in the AKC.
NACSW does not deal with tracking. NACSW is all about finding scents: Birch, Anise, and Clove. The odors are hidden and the dogs must find them. NACSW mimics the work that drug detection dogs do minus the drugs. It's actually a whole lot of fun and dogs love it.
