It was finally light enough at SAR training to get a video of Kolt working
I was trying to set up a longer search - my hope was that he's go wide,we'd work the field, then we'd circle back and work close to the buildings. But then I recalled him when he started heading towards the road and he found his victim pretty darn quick...
What you don't see in the video is the residual scent in the area. Other dogs had been working previously, other people had gone through the are with their dogs. Doesn't seem to matter to him at. all

I see in the video where she came ran off the field and returned to you.
Did you call her back to you or does she return to you when on a search?
I recalled in the video as he was getting close to a road. If he had gone the other direction he would have kept working.
He seems to have a nice balance of working independently but still checking in with me. He'll work 500-600 ft out quite easily but then also make sure I'm still in the general area before working further. When he catches scent though he is 110% committed to it and works it really nice
