What I love most are the routines of Attila Szkukalek with his Border Collie Fly, especially the so funny "Hooray for Hollywood", (where he imitates Charlie Chaplin) and "The Gladiator"

There should be laws against dog dancing if your name is Attila.
Something just wrong about that!

Christina, the link in your first post did not work for me. I then noticed that the last name was not highlighted, did not seem to be included in the actual link, so I tried copy-and-pasting, including the last name. That worked for me, but I too am unable to post it here as a complete link. So I guess anybody interested in looking at it will have to do the same, hightlight the entire link Christina posted, including the last name, then paste it into the YouTube search box.

I admit I have not seen a lot of the sport, and from what little I've seen, I got the impression it is mostly women who seem to be participating, but in watching this, it occurred to me that a lot of the skills and movements incorporated are similar to what I have seen in the disc dog sport, and there are plenty of men involved in that one.
Again, I think it all comes down to finding activities that both you and your dog can enjoy together, then practice, practice, practice, and if you're so inclined, get into the competition aspect.

Thank you so much, Cheri, for you advices and comments. Sorry, I'm not a PC-woman, tehre are lots of things, I will have to learn. (Old dog, 74, new tricks!) Practise, practise, I agree fully!
What concerns the sexes - I also prefer men and woman involved. No prejudices! And there are other a lot of other websites, where lots of weomen are involved. (e.g. Rock'I am only on the way to learn how to motivate my dogs. Without fun, we can forget everything. This is my first rule in order to teach my dogs rules.
What concerns the competition aspect, I have to forget this. Not because of my age, but because here (Brazil, Bahia), I will not have any chance to take part in a competition. Nevertheless, I want to train my dogs, consistently, but always on the path of fun. This is my goal here, where I live. I do not have contact with professionals or other handlers, whom try to train their dogs in Leerburgs attitude.

Christina, there are plenty of folks here that can help you learn with marker training.
As much as I tease about dog dancing I love the methods used. Marker training!
I've only been training with markers for 10 -12 yrs and I love it.
Old dogs DO LOVE to learn new tricks!
There are some FANTASTIC DVDs available here at Leerburg.

I know, Bob.That's why I like the Webboard so much. I can learn from every answer. They may differ a bit sometimes, but all of them are based on the concept of marker training. I also have at least ten DVDs from Leerburg, Ed Frawley, Mark Keating, Michael Ellis and selfstudy courses, (Mark and Forrest).
I have not had the opportunity to have dogs during my whole life, although I always wanted. But now I have 4 since about three and a half years. It is not easy here, because most of the people think I'm nuts to want to train my dogs. I do not listen to them, I even have to keep on doing, what I'm convinced of against the opinions of my husband, who is a good guy with the dogs, but hasn't captured yet, how important training and playing is, for the realtionship, the obedience etc etc.
In the beginning I bad recommendations, from a useless self-styled trainer etc. But googling for a long time I found at least ocasionally some usefull sites, but also a whole lot of rubbish, some of which I even believed in the beginning. Then one day I met Leerburg and here I finally feel at home. I prefer - if possible ~ to enroll in interactive courses, because there I will be corrected, where I am perhaps not aware of the mistakes I make. This is simply awsome for me, because a personal trainer or a reasonable course, I will not find here.
Thank you for your answer, Bob. Always great to hear from you!
Kindest regards from an old dog, who loves to learn new tricks

For Cheri:
sorry for the mistake I made. The address is not "Rock'I", but http://www.rockndog.de, but I don't know yet how to highlight this. I'm quite new in this business! But I'll find a way, how to learn this.
Thanks for your understanding

Christina, the link you posted here (above) to "Rockndog" works fine! I was referring to the link in your first post to the YouTube video of Attila and his border collie. That one, for some reason, does not want to take you to that particular video. But, like I said, if you copy and paste the entire thing, including his last name, then you can get to it. No problem! I don't consider myself highly skilled when it comes to computers, either, though like you, I'm always trying to learn more.
I give you so much credit for what you are doing with your four dogs! You've mentioned before that dog training is not really that popular in your country, but you have seen the benefits and the enjoyment that can result for both the dogs and the owners, and you have set about to teach yourself. Maybe you'll be a inspiration to some other dog owners in your neighborhood and the word will spread!
I, too, am very glad you found Leerburg and are making use of the many resources that can be found here!

Cheri, today I looked at Attilas adress again and now it is highlighted. ????? In case, you have corrected this somehow, then thanks! I also did not notice, that the Rockndog is highlighted. Perhaps because I copied and pasted the http too? Or was this also thanks to a certain brownie?
By the way, yes, dog training is a wonderful thing. Even with my adopted stray, who is braindamaged, because he must have recieved a horrible blow on his head from someone. I once wrote about him in the Webboard, because the Vets opinion was: It's not worth spending money and time, he will not be able to learn. But I'm thickheaded and tried, and he definitaly is trainable. He knows already the handtouch quite good, also to look at me on command, go around my legs and also sit and some seconds of sitstay. And so I will go on until he is ready, to take with me the relationshio course of Mark Keating. He's not a burden for me, on the contrary. And Leerburg is truly a great help.
Have a nice day, Cheri
