Hello,
I am looking for:
Tracking for Search and Rescue Dogs, A Practical Manual for Novice and Advanced Handler by Boguslaw P. Gorny. If anyone has the book and is willing to sell it or rent it please PM me.
Sheila, I'm an avid reader and often find myself searching for older or OOP books. My favorite site for used books is:
abebooks.com
And I have also used these sites and consider them all reputable:
alibris.com
biblio.com
amazon.com
powells.com
Several of the above sites have copies of this book available, most of them for a hefty price. The cheaper ones seem to be listed as "Acceptable" condition, and I would want to ask a lot of detailed questions before buying something with that description. There's even a copy listed on eBay right now, but again as "Acceptable" condition.
Thanks Cheri. I'm psyched, some of those sites are new to me. Retail price when printed was $25..... paying $300 is unacceptable not to mention unaffordable. Rats....I just showed my hand if anyone does have it they know there is a higher bidder out there. But have pity on me; I heard the book breaks down the training into small steps which I am a huge fan of. Especially with the pup I'm training, he likes to lose his mind in excitement. Which translates into my becoming a human kite or George, George, George of the jungle watch out for that tree......
It looks like you could pay $300-plus if you wanted to, but it's hard to say if anyone is actually getting that or if that's just a hopeful seller. I did see a number of nice copies (Fine or Like New condition) with an asking price of about half that.
Awwww..... Cathy it was too good to be true. That site requires a German Billing address..... I found another site that will look for it for me at a good price. It's a company in NH with a decent reputation I have to pay first though.
Is there a genetic link between being a dog nerd and a book nerd? Both can send me over threshold. And I don't think I'm alone in that on this web board.

Yep, I think so. No, you're not alone.
I know Sheila understands this, but just a caveat I want to mention for the benefit of others who may be checking out the used book links I posted up-thread: Condition is very important! These sites provide a description of the book (provided by the seller, not the site), which can range from Like New to Poor. Prices can be all over the place, but are often linked to condition and other factors. Here are some basic definitions, in case anyone is interested:
