Well just received a new dog 7yrs old Czech German shepherd black. which video should I start out first. She very strong has had some training but that seem it wasn't keep. I am also new learning every day but what to do it right. Thank you
What are your goals for her? Establishing pack structure video is a good place to start. Did you take Frawley's free course on how to manage dogs in the home? Then I would go to the marker training starts: basic dog obedience dvd, and michael ellis power of training dogs with food. If she has the legenzry Czech drive you may also want michael ellis power of playing tug.
Read the freearticlez on marker training and the theory of correction by ed frawley.
Thank you her temperament aim still learning this the 3nd day starting to settle down a little. Food drive it doesn't seem to be very effective she might take it most time know. I will look into the marker training. Thank for the help. I did learn from her owner that her blood line has had serval multiply grand champion in a lot of fields. will spend the time with her. don't know right now what goal I have for her? Just to let you know this dog was gifted to me she more dog than I expected but they need I would take care of her the remaining day she has left. I saved a big chocolate lab 3 year ago to make him a home

I would take it very-Very-VERY easy with her -- This is a MATURE Czech GSD who does NOT know you as its MASTER ... As others have already advised, I would NOT use ANY corrections on her for quite some time, until after you have established a GOOD relationship of TRUST by Pack Structure AND Marker Training
I agree that this is a lot of dog, and it would be wise to take things very slowly for a while. Get to know her, and give her time to become comfortable in her new surroundings. Nice and easy. Now is not the time to jump right into formal training.
What you definitely want to start right away is a household management protocol, and by that I simply mean letting her know how things run in your home, what the routine is, and what is expected of her in the way of behavior and manners. Again, these kinds of things can and should be taught in a calm, non-stressful way.
I also agree with Nicole above that the Leerburg free online course called "How We Manage Dogs in Our Home" is a great place to start for new dog owners (and a great refresher for more experienced folks). Here is a link to more information about the course and instructions on signing up.
Of course, none of us has the exact same set-up in our homes as Ed and Cindy, so we might have to modify some of the suggestions. But, again, it's a great place to start, and from there you can go on to some of the other courses or the basic training DVDs.
As Bob and Candi said, learn everything you can about marker training. It is the foundation for how you will communicate with your dog in teaching household manners and in formal training.
I think it's great that you were willing and able to offer this dog a home, and that you are wanting to learn the best ways to take care of her and interact with her.
thank for all the information the pack structure is where I will start first. Just some more information she got here first bath yesterday it really went will. One of first problem she is having is she so excited take a little time to claim down. the one thing that I see is you can't even start to control her just a little without a pinch collar. I believe this is the only thing that was used on her for walks. Listing to her owner she didn't get to do much and now I let her out to play in the yard and take short walk. I notice this yesterday when she claim down some she looks at me a lot when where walking I think this is good. thank again wayne
