We had to put Kasey to sleep this morning. The arthritis in his foot just hurt him too bad and was too severe to be able to keep him comfortable. He was anxious all the time and couldn't rest. We just feel empty and lonely, and miss him so much already...
Oh, no, Lori, I am so very sad to hear this! I feel like Kasey himself has been a member of this board the entire time I have been here, and of course before that. I still have a memory of the sig pic you had way back then, and I remember thinking, wow, what a gorgeous Golden Retriever!
He was always a beautiful dog, and he had a beautiful life with you. I know your heart feels empty now, and I know there are no words to ease that kind of pain, but please know that you and all of Kasey's family are in my thoughts. Run free at the Bridge, Kasey........
As many times as I've gone through this over the years it never gets easier but I'll willingly go through it again for all the great times with my dogs.
So heart sorry for you and your family losing your beloved Kasey, you did the only thing you could, and should do, you stopped the misery before it became unbearable for him, he told you he had had enough, and you gave him the peace he needed.
None of that lessens that sickening pain in your soul, and I sincerely feel for you.
Of course you did all that was possible, and in the end you did exactly RIGHT by your beloved Kasey, but my heart weeps for you in how very hard it always is...
Run pain-free with JOY over the bridge, sweet Kasey!
Very sorry for such a heartbreaking loss, Lori. You stepped up and did the hardest thing ever for a dog owner. My heart goes out to you. Kasey sounds like he was a wonderful dog.
Sorry about your loss. It hurts like hell when they leave us.
As my older dog is in pain himself, i get that im closer to that day. I cant even begin to imagine how your feeling right now.
take care of your n yours

How heartbreaking. I am so, so sorry. What a blessing that you were able to ease his pain and discomfort. He was the luckiest of dogs to have had a wonderful life, filled with love, and an easy passing at the end of it. It is so hard to let them go.
So,so sorry Lori. I know how it hurts. Try to remember all the good times.....I wish I could say the pain eases. But not so much with the really special ones.
