Something strange is going on with one ofmy dogs. Since about 10 days she sits crooked and I don't know how to fix this.I practiced the sit following one of Michael's DVDs and so
my dogs learned it very quickly and are accustomed to it. The sit was proofed and generalized in all thinkable ways.
It is not simply my personal impression, that she sat perfectly straight. I had also taken Mark's RG course, where they had to learn the "sit pretty". It is impossible to perform this position out of a crooked sit. They all learned it and remain in this position for at least 15 seconds.
It can not be a question of extinction, as I repeat the "sit pretty" not every day but regularly. The sit itself I practice daily e.g. for the sit stay and they also do it quite naturally, before we leave or enter the yard, the kennel, before crossing a street and on lots of other occasions.
Now I began again with her to train this Michael's way, but she simply puts her butt down on the left or the right side.I don't understand, because she begann this so suddenly,so unexpectedly. It can not be due to some pain, I can touch her on each side without problem, manipulate her legs etc. Nevertheless I'll consult a Vet to make sure she's got nothing in the back.
Has anyone anyone any advice ???

I would go back to basics and reward the second his butt hits the ground, before he gets the chance to roll on a hip.
Possibly your not rewarding when you mark anymore?
I use an "ok" when I release a dog from a behavior if I'm not going to reward more then verbal or physical.
No matter how well the dog knows the exercise I will ALWAYS reward if I mark a behavior.
We all want to get a dog that performs with no reward or correction but no matter what method used you still have to continue enough random reward or correction if needed to keep them fresh.
Pain could still be a possibility even though you haven't found any.
Bob, thank you for your advices. I always reward after I have given my Ok as TM, not only for sits. I always give random rewards. (Thanks to a great moderator, who reminded me several times to do this! LOL! Hi, back again!)
Great surprise when today I made her sit. She sat precisely to the point! More than once! She must have had some muscle strain or something like that. Nevertheless I will see the Vet Monday. Just to be sure.
Thank you!!!

Yes I agree Mara. Just with touching and manipulating legs, hips, back I can not discover if she has some pain or discomfort somewhere else. Although she shows a nice sit now again.I don't want to run the risk to overstrain some part of her body, that's why I will consult the Vet tomorrow.
Very kind of you to answer. Thanks!
