I have been asked a question from one of my friend and I really dnt have the proper knowledge to answar him with this.
I thought to throw the question here assuming some one can give a the logical answar. The problem. is given below.
My 23 months old GSD male is refussing to mate. I have tried with so many females but what he does is only sniff the rare end of the female and walk away..
Is there any medical reason? but he seems to be perfect with health. plz suggest.
I would also like to know if there is any medication to increase his sperm flows?
That was the question from him.. waiting for a precise answar if somebody can help out.
Thanx
Asit
thanx for your reply. I will ask my frnd to send me pics of the bitches if he has it.
I have seen few more dogs like him (which was a golden retriever for an example) with the same issues..
They introduced with few females but They dnt want to hump on the females rather goes away after a lil sniff.
No, Asit, please do not ask your friend for photos of the bitches! As Ian said in his post, he was joking. His answers were meant to be tongue-in-cheek.
You are asking for a friend, right, this is not your own male? I don't think anyone here would be able to diagnose the problem based on a question posed on an internet forum from the other side of the world. There are so many variables that could go into it. Most basically, we have no idea what the condition of the male dog is. But if he is in good health and well-cared-for, I would say a vet visit would be in order, preferably a vet that is knowledgeable in reproductive issues.
As to the question of whether there's something he can be given to increase his sperm count, has he been diagnosed with low sperm count? I believe only a laboratory test could confirm that. Plus, it should be pointed out that low sperm count and lack of interest in mating are two different issues and do not necessarily go hand in hand.
Finally, this is not meant to be a joke, but I must ask, since I know nothing of what your friend or the owners of the females know about dogs. Is everyone sure that the female dogs are indeed in heat and at a receptive stage of their cycle?
First of all I wanna say u thanx for your reply .
the male dog is not mine , I have two female gsds no males..
This was my friend who asked me the question which I posted here.. I have no idea why male dogs do like this as I mention that I have seen few more male dogs like him with the same problem and they are not seem like that they are unhealthy.
When he asked me this question(15days ago)I told him to talk with a good veterinary who can tell him the proper reason but I also wanted to post it in here ,I thought there could be some one here might have experienced this issue with their dogs too..
I will tell him again to talk with the vets but vets are here horrible, they hardly even go for the tests wheather its about vaccinations or about any other issues.
as he said to me that the females he have tried for this dog was all healthy and they have a very good history of breeding with other males..
Young, inexperienced, female wasn't in standing heat (they're only ready to breed a few days during the heat cycle) too much human supervision, male wasn't on his home turf.
It was his home turf.
The female was experienced nd had puppies frm her previous breeding. .
This is true that an inexperienced young dog needs lots of supervision from human during breeding but atleast it will show a lil willingness for doin it .what my friend said is, his dog is jst not interested.
Anywy i will ask him again if has consulted wd any vets.will let u know
thanx
