Another decision made, and scheduled.
My favorite vet will visit the house on Friday, at 0800 hours, and, together, we will ease the pain of a good and faithful friend.
Brio, once known as Kleo von der Konigsgarde, will be at peace. 13 plus years, a rescue, from Germany. She helped with the training of other rescues who passed through here. Smart, and everything one would want from a companion.
The next hours will be a celebration of her. And a time to prepare. And then, after, to the cabin for her to join Wolfgang, Maximus, Gustav and Freya, and Jake, one miserable cat.
A hard decision but an ethical one. None the less, Painful.
Mike A.

I'm so sorry, Mike. I think the decision to let them go is the most difficult and painful one we make when we choose to love dogs. Brio and your entire family will be in my thoughts.

I'll be thinking of you, Mike. Brio is one of the fortunate ones with pack leaders who make the hard decisions.

Very sorry about your loss, Mike. Sounds like Brio was a great dog and no doubt he will be missed. Also sounds like he was a very fortunate dog to have you as a companion as well.

You've done well by her, Mike. Both in rescuing and by letting her go with dignity and grace. It's hard - if it ever gets easy we need to rethink why we have dogs...
Give her this last day of love to take to the Bridge. She will be waiting for you with so many others that you have touched in this world...
The Creation
Author Unknown
When God had made the earth and sky
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds and bees.
And when at last He'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said, "I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name."
And so He traveled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
a little creature followed Him
until it's strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
and in the sky and sea,
the little creature said, "Dear Lord,
there's not one left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him,
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
and called you dog, My friend."
Hugs to you, your bride and the rest of the pack. Tell Brio that with so many wonderful souls there, the other side isn't so scary, and she will see you again.
