Daniel.P.Hughes Webboard User Reg: 02-06-2010 Posts: 180 Loc: Offline	I gots a training question for biking with dog. When I go alone she is great stays next to me and doesn't pull. She is in a harness to protect her neck. Now, when the boys, wife or all of them come and they stay behind me (which is slower then they like to go due to my disability and I am working my way up; but moving on) she is fine. When they forge ahead she switches to sled dog mode and pulls. Questions First off does anyone let their dog pull them in harness for ride.....good or bad. She has no interest in food when in bike mode so marking and treating doesn't work I tried that. I don't think she would go for toy either. Would this be a move only when she is calm. Mark and ride. mark and ride...going to be a long 3 miles that way lol. Or correcting with collar? I am in a neighborhood and trails so running off leash isn't an option either. The folks going ahead of you are to much distraction for the level of training the dog is at. Teach her to work with you on a slack lead and build her resistance to low level distractions. Work up to a slack lead with high level distractions. Once you have good response the start with low level distractions while on the bike. Using markers or correction would depend on how you train the dog initially. You mark and reward a slack lead or you correct with a proper collar. My choice of training would be markers. "MY" choice of collar for corrections would be a pinch. That should be on a separate lead from the lead on the harness. old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks
