Thrown away on the roof of the high Mojave Desert near Edwards AFB in Southern California, rescued by Tehachapi Animal Shelter, adopted by our family & given a wonderful life at my son Noah's house for over a decade, our beloved red Dobie with natural-born ears & tail was on her way home in the car from an after-dinner walk in one of the Sacramento River's wildlands areas, when she passed away peacefully in the back seat, at the side of her companion Skippy the Rat Terrier...
Noah discovered that MoJa was not breathing when he pulled into his driveway to unload the dogs early last night -- He performed CPR on her for an extended time, but she was gone & could not be revived ... Of course we are trying to focus on all the happy memories & on her good death, but needless to say, we are nevertheless in deep mourning.
Run free & easy over The Bridge, my good girl, to your True Forever Home in God's care, until we meet again.
I'm so sorry for your family's loss, Candi. I'm glad that she was given such a good life for ten-plus years after such a horrible beginning. She was one of the lucky ones. Rest easy, MoJa..........
I'm feeling deeply with you Candi! So good to know, she was rescued, as you describe, and then had a happy life with you and your family. Nonetheless in this difficult moment it probably doesn't help much. It is so hard to lose an animal. I'm shivering when thinking, that some day I will have to suffer the same. We all know that for everyone of us such a day will come. I know it will be very heartbreaking and I'm thinking about you with all my heart.
“If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, then you are a leader” – Rudyard Kipling
So very sorry Candi, what started as a terrible example of what humans are capable of, rapidly became what decent and dedicated people do for a dog in dire need.
Bless your wonderful son for giving this girl a full and happy life, and while no loss is ever easy to bear, slipping away with her friend by her side, and her beloved master at the wheel, is one of the gentlest ways to go that I can think of.
God bless MoJa, you were a lucky girl to have known such love.
THANK you, Everyone, for all your heartfelt empathy -- Too sad to discuss further, but your SUPPORT means the world to me at this time, my Dear friends...
