I just bought a remote ecollar for my dog barking in my apartment problem. It's just her and I here and she watches me like a hawk especially anything in my hand. She just turned one.
~When I use the remote she sees me pick it up. I'm not sure she will associate my pushing the button with the electronic correction. Would that be an issue?
~Also what is the method of using the remote with commands? Do I say Quiet then push?
Or push without saying anything so she connects the stim with barking on its own?
~It has a tone feature which is supposed to be used like a clicker for correct behavior. I think I could use the beep as a warning that a correction will be coming. Would that work?
~Thank you.
This is basically my main inquiry: do verbal commands go with the stim?
She is a clever 30 pound cockapoo.
She is in obedience class. Doing great.
Play with her a lot including tug.
She is doing unwanted guard work re the apartment door.
Tried a bark collar but it didn't phase her at low levels and I didn't let her bark on and on at the person walking by to have it cycle higher and higher. I don't want complaints to landlord.
-I have ordered longer prongs for remote collar as she is very furry.
When i notice my dogs picking up on the button noise or me pushing the button i turn the remote off and go through the motion of grabbing it and pushing the buttons several times.
I use an ecollar as a bark collar as well. Other people in the house work from home so silence is not negotiable and my AmBull is a yapper. I use the pavlovian tone feature in my ez educator. Basically how that works is that when you hold down the button a tone sounds for 2 seconds before a stim. The button just being bumped for tone only is all that's needed for my girl. I haven't had to actually hold it down to use the stim for weeks. I started doing it this way as others in the house are reluctant to "shock" her but are fine with using the tone button.

Thanks Cathy. I am using the beep as a correction. I installed the longer prongs as she is furry - a cockapoo. I am using "quiet" command and reward of treat or petting and praise. I really haven't used the stim much as she hears people in the hall before I can and I don't have the remote handy, so I have to be more diligent and maybe have it in a fanny pack if I don't have a pocket. She watches me with it and I try to put my cell phone in front or TV remote or inside my shirt.
Maybe I shouldn't worry about her watching me lightly zap her but that's why I asked here.
