Calling on anyone with some experience in this area as it has me stumped :s
I've got a 15 week old mal who's dogs are from knpv lines, with dogs like kukays aras and bryan vh Mencke in her lineage.
Her father was a police dog.
So far, she's great in every way. She also loves my older dog just fine.
However, foreign dogs on the street cause me issues. She hits the end of her lead and shows aggressive tendancies like barking, dominant posture. There are no signs of fear and she has had zero bad experiences with other dogs.
We have been playing high drive games with food and toys in public so she's well socialized....bar this issue.
Any one have any ideas? Any help would be greately appreciated
Does this occur only when she's leashed or behind a fence? Does she interact with any other dogs physically, or only her packmate?
Even though you don't see any signs of fear, the first defensive response of a dog is to bluff a perceived threat. Hitting the end of the lead or fence fighting in a defensive display could be a form of bluffing. JMO something to consider.
ETA A defensive reaction does not necessarily mean that a dog is fearful. Some of the fiercest working dogs work and train in defensive drive.

Edit reason: eta
It could very well be fear. I haven't had anyone with a docile older dog to help me eliminate variables. So far it's just when she's harnessed and leashed.
She only interacts with my dog.
Perhaps she is stressed? I was thinking slowly counter conditioning her?
Yeh shes well versed in our communication system and we do marker train. Thats how i've been channeling her drives. We play food based games as well as toy ones (not so much now as shes teething).
doing some more inquiries into my line and it appears its a guarding instinct that has been triggered in her.
May have to source from friends with docile dogs and do this in my street, where shes comfortable as opposed to a busy public place with lots of stress around.
