Grand daughter #3 took up running this past summer to keep her in shape for soccer.
I've mentioned in the past that she entered a couple of 5K races and did very nice.
One was a fund raiser for the school she was going to attend this yr as a freshman.
The school running coach saw here and asked her if she'd like to run with some of the team before school started.
She did and he said immediately she was going on his Varsity team and shes done very nice for her first 3 races.
Yesterday she ran in an invitational race in a beautiful but very hilly park in Alton Ill.
This skinny, 14 yr old freshman girl smoked em and came in first place out of half a dozen other school's Varsity girls runners and finished at least a half a soccer field ahead of the #2 runner.
Her race ended aprox 5pm and she had to hurry off for a soccer game at 7pm aprox 40 miles away.
As she was leaving I kissed her on the forehead and jokingly told her to get a goal for me.
Her team won the soccer game and TWO of the team's four goals were kicked by>>>>>>GUESS WHO?!

Hm,hmmmm, difficult quiz!
Wow! It seemed to be easy-breezy for her! (Seemed! Was surely a whole lot of effort too!) And steem! For shure, she aced it just for her Grandpa! Congrats!

The only one on her team faster then her is the team Captain, a senior boy.
She's chomping at the bit planning when she beats him.
Here mom, my daughter, and her dad are both super competitive in sports.
The great thing is ALL the cross country teams are very supportive of one another and many of the early finishers will stand around the finish line to cheer on the late finishers.
Even the ones who come in walking because they couldn't keep up.
My Nephew, brother's son, is a Maj in the USMC MARSOC and he runs ultra marathons of anywhere from 100 to 300 mile races.
He's stationed in Germany right now and getting ready for a big race in GB somewhere.
He was shot in the foot in Afghanistan a few yrs back but says it only hurts when he runs.
Incredible! What a disciplin! What persistent kids! Obviously know exactly what they want. What a fun family, and so high drive. You and your wife must have a jackpott of extraordinary genes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course already mixed up slightly with others, but which didn't harm the original equipment.
Was a great pleasure to read!

Wow, I'll say! Great genes plus being raised properly and having a loving, supportive extended family equals children and grandchildren and nieces and nephews who do you proud. You're a lucky man, Bob!
I definitely believe in this too. I also believe in Grandpa's tears. So sweet!
When I was a little girl there was still the stupid rule: Men and boys don't cry. Nowadays it is better, but there are still enough men who'd feel embarrassed for their tears. I guess, your beautiful dancing lady must have been even more proud and happy to see your emotions and those of the rest of the family.
