By experience what is my best choice in tugs for my 3 months old 35 lb puppy
Looking for size (diameter) and material.
He love his rags and flirt pole
Rope tug, he does not like much and tennis ball size balls seem too big for him at the moment for tugging (ball on rope)
I have a fire hose tug 3" in diameter it either too big or too hard for him
Totally agree with Bob about the rag and teething.
After the rag, I find it easy to transition to a jute tug. Once his grip is where I want it, or if his teeth are hanging in the jute, I like to switch to a soft leather. I don't use it from the beginning for the very same reason that I like it for development; the soft leather is harder to grip (while not being as hard as the fire hose), so it requires that the pup get a deeper grip and focus on grip & hold.
IMHO, a hard tug such as fire hose is better for a more advanced puppy to needs to build grip but is not discouraged by the feel. Jute is the material that the sleeve will be made of, so that is my go to for working a bitework beginner.
Thanks guys.
I got the fire hose for Harley back then.
I never had one of those high drive dog as a puppy so it is a new game for me. It is a lot of fun, but it seem that every tug toy I can get around my place is too hard or too big.
I found one online supplier in Canada finally that have suitable choice for my pup. I avoid the US because I have a taxe number associated to my name so I get dig all the time at the boarder.
He still want to tug so I will get a smaller french linen one.
That little devil grows so fast! He is now just under 40 lb!
