Happy Christmas to you too, Duane. Very beauiful and funny pictures about Christmas in New Orleans. They mediate a cozy mood. Without your contribution I wouldn't even have thought that Christmas is coming. You can see here and there some tiny artificial christmas trees and in front of a few supermarkets a figure that looks with some fantasie somehow like a Father Christmas.
People celebrate Christmas here, but we almost every year forget it. Quase nothing reminds on Christmas and for us from Switzerland it lacks the snow. No White Christmas. no Christmas atmosphere. Of course we like celebrating, but we do it one or two weeks later, when we realize we have missed the feast.

Santa and His Reindeer Used to Live Right Here
Intro by the late New Orleans TV journalist, chef, and weekly fishing report host, Frank Davis. Frank used to visit schools. In closing his session, he would always give the young kids this advice...
"To be successful, find something that you really, REALLY like to do, learn to do it better than anybody else, and find someone who will pay you to do it."
RIP, Frank.

Although I understood only3/4 of what that first guy said, I almost died with laughter. Do all folks of Oregon talk in this strange English? At least they seem to be in mood!
the other links I haven't had the time yet to listen/watch. But I certainly will. How funny what different sounds humans can produce. Great contribution. But I'm now more in carneval mood.

Justin Wilson!
I haven't heard of him in many years......... He used to have some GREAT party records.......I GARONTEE!
Christina, the Cajun dialect is deep in the history of the swamps of Louisiana.
Part English, part Arcadian French that goes back to the original French settlers.
Other then in the deep swamps you wont find another dialect anywhere near close to it.
I'm betting Duane can give a better explanation then me......I GARONTEE! :-)

Here in the Midwest is the only area of the USA that doesn't have an accent.

Well, that's interesting. So you have a similar mess between the mixture of diferente diallects like we have in Switzerland. Although it is such a small country, we have sometimes difficulties to understand some expressions of other dialects. Germains who have not been living in Switzerland don't understand it at all.
"The Cajun Night Before Christmas ", Duane. I understood better, though not all of it. What strange Christmas stories! I hardly couldn't believe it, sounds more like horror story. But as I'm not very fearful, I was able to bear it. Great giggle. But how about children? Don't they creep themselves somewhere?
We have na awful story, but not around Christina, but Dec 6th, St Nicolas. We were threatened to be taken away from home for a whole year and have to peel carrots in the Black Forrest, if he hears we haven't behaved well during the year. He also came with big rod and we were told he would beat our butt. I was each year awfully frightened, although then in reality nothing happened but we recieved gingerbread for good behaviour.

Benny Grunch-Santa and His Reindeer I like much better. After watching this I dared again to crawl out of my bed!
